Unlike Multi Brand retail 100% FDI is allowed in Single Brand retail . Why it is not so successful because the condition imposed by Government is very stringent relating to Product sourcing norm . Big International Companies like IKEA are strugling hard with Government to dilute the Clause . Government is giving indication to dilute it but taking too much time to clear the guidelines . If India want huge FDI it shouls make the guidelines easy one by one and make it interesting for foreign players to come to India .As per the present requirment 30% sourcing need to be done from SME segment . This condition is being challenged by big players like IKEA as they think it will be difficult to comply it looking into the present state of SME segment in India .
It would be better if Govt dilute this condition looking into all aspect .
